ABOUT US
Hi there! We’re Dan and Vera Christian.
We’ve been in full-time ministry together since 1998, starting out in college campus ministry and then moving into pastoral ministry for 17 years. We’re currently based in Southern California, where we raised our four children.
Prior to starting OakHaven Ministries, Dan served at our church as an assistant pastor overseeing discipleship and counseling ministries. Besides helping with regular church responsibilities, he developed “Day with Jesus” personal retreats, discipleship training classes, and trained lay members in biblical counseling methodology and skills. He completed his Master of Arts in Spiritual Formation from Talbot School of Theology.
As a pastor’s wife, Vera taught classes, discipled, and counseled the women at church. But her greatest lessons learned were from her own experience as an adoptive mother of a disabled child, an experience that has helped her recognize her own deep need for the life-changing power of the Gospel. Soon after, she began to take courses through CCEF’s School of Biblical Counseling* and became an ACBC certified biblical counselor*.
When we are not leading retreats, counseling or training others, you can find Dan hard at work in his garage workshop or puttering around in the garden. On the other hand, Vera is usually curled up with a good book or having brunch with a friend. (Or maybe baking a sweet treat to share!)
*CCEF stands for Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation and ACBC stands for Association of Certified Biblical Counselors.
